Here's another attempt in creating a smokey look from my NYX Smokey Look Kit. It's much darker compared to my previous look.

EOTD: Using NYX Smokey Look Kit (Part 1)

Here's my attempt in creating an eye look from my NYX Smokey Look Kit.

EOTD: Smokey Blue

Hi everyone! I mentioned before, I am not really a makeup expert but I'm learning. A few days ago, I went and gathered my blue eyeshadows and decided to do a smokey blue look. I did a few attempts before but I never uploaded them because I always end up with a messy and fugly result. But with my recent experiment, I think I like how it turned out.

I'm hoping it's good enough to share. lol. I know it's not the best but I'm quite happy with the result. So, here it is!

More after the jump!

Clinique All About Eyes

Clinique All About Eyes comes in two variants: All About Eyes and All About Eyes Rich. I believe the first one is on the lighter side and the latter is thicker and richer (hence, the name). I've never tried All About Eyes Rich, but I have been constantly using their All About Eyes variant. I am already on my 3rd jar and I am still very happy with this product.

Clinique Superfit Makeup Foundation

"High-performance makeup. Stays smooth all day, come stress or high humidity. Wears 8 hours. Oil-free."

I like the hygienic squeeze bottle.

Swatch: Clinique Superfit in Cream Beige.

This foundation has a medium coverage. The texture is not too creamy, almost watery I think. I like how light this foundation feels and I like that it doesn't break me out or irritate my skin. This foundation is great except that the shade is just a little bit light for me. I dunno, I guess I'm just that OC when it comes to my foundation shade. But other than that, this foundation is good. Sad to say I think this product is already discontinued. But maybe you can still purchase it at Ebay or somewhere else.

Japan Trip and Haul

Hi everyone! Here's a little peek on my Japan trip plus haul.

My trip to Japan is just awesome. I love the place, it's super clean and beautiful. I love the people, they are all very courteous. We joined a group tour and our schedule was tight. It was tiring but still fun. I just wish we had more time to shop. Before I share my mini Japan haul, I'd like to share a few photos with you guys from my trip. It's memorable and I'd love to visit Japan again!

This one's from Kyoto. The temples are just so beautiful.
Shin Sai Bashi-Suji, Osaka. Taking my opportunity to shop outside our hotel even if I'm dead tired.

This is me and my nephew somewhere in Universal Studios Osaka. We were so tired and the weather was freezing cold.

Fuji-ten ski resort. You can see Mt. Fuji on the background behind those trees.

We also went to DisneySea and Sanrio Puroland in Tokyo. Here's Hello Kitty!

Crazy Harajuku street on New Year's day! Unfortunately, I didn't see any Harajuku girls/boys that day. The place was too crowded.

And guess what, most (if not all) of the hotels we stayed are carrying Shiseido products on their toiletries. From Shampoo, body wash, to facial wash. Everything's Shiseido. Amazing isn't it?

And now for the haul, I didn't get to buy a lot. We were always in a hurry and we didn't have enough time to shop. It felt like we were in the Amazing Race or something... Anyway, I decided that I'm just going to include the makeup and skin care products I bought. I'd love to share some of the good fashion finds I got from Japan but most of them are in the laundry bin because I have already worn them. So yeah, here they are!

1.) Clinique clarifying lotion #2: My staple toner. I needed to restock because I was running out of it.
2.) Clinique long last glosswear SPF 15: I got three in Bonfire, Knockout Nude and Goldspun. The pack came in 5. I gave the other 2 to my sister.
3.) NYX Smokey Look Kit: A mini palette that contains 9 shadows and 2 lip glosses.
4.) Kate BB Makeup Base: Kate is a product of Kanebo. It is targeted for the younger market, I think. This has SPF as well but I forgot how much SPF. It was on the box but I threw it already. As far as I can remember, it was around 32 or 35.
5.) Kate Makeup Remover: Forgot to include this in the picture. But I bought this because there was this one time when we had to move from Osaka to Tokyo via bullet train and our luggage were shipped. Our stuff didn't arrive until the next day and I forgot to carry with me my makeup remover, lucky enough there was a store that had beauty stuff and got a hold of this.
6.) Shiseido Anessa Perfect Essence Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++: I was looking for this sunscreen, unfortunately I don't think they carry it in Japan. The SA recommended this to me. They came in three kinds. Waterproof (for heavy duty use I think / for sports or swimming), Pearlized one that gave a pearly effect on your face, and the one I got which is for everyday use.
7.) DHC peel off pack: I just though I needed to use some mask for my face. I never tried one before so I thought this would be a great try.
8.) DHC Eyelash Tonic: It's supposed to make your lashes thicker and stronger. I've been using this for weeks and it seems to be working! I seriously love it.

I wish I researched about DHC before I went to Japan so I know which items I should get. They seem to have a whole lot of amazing products but I don't understand what's written on their boxes. It's quite difficult to guess what they are for lol. But the SA's are nice enough to really try to explain what they are for. I also wish we had more time to shop so I can concentrate on my shopping. You know how difficult it is to shop when you know you're running out of time. lol.

So yeah. That's my haul from Japan. I will do more in depth reviews on these items once I have used them for a while. Have a great weekend everyone!

haul from a short trip

Hi Everyone! I am back. I went to Macau last week with my family. I wasn't really expecting much from Macau, I thought it was just like Hong Kong but I was just wrong. It was so beautiful and clean. We stayed at the Venetian and the rooms were just awesome. It was so relaxing. I miss my bed there already. And I want to go back soon. Anyway after the city tour, we still had like two days to do whatever or go wherever we wanted to. We went to Senado Square and there were a lot of shops! I can remember this store called "BONJOUR" that sells a lot of imported and local beauty products. And I think there was also "Sasa" (if I'm not mistaken) that sells a lot of beauty stuff. I was overwhelmed. Too overwhelmed that I didn't even get to buy stuff for myself. I was too busy buying pasalubongs (gifts) and then I realized, why the hell haven't I bought anything for myself yet. Lol. So yeah, I also love the Venetian Hotel because I can go shopping anytime. I just take the elevator from our room and there I am at the Grand Canal Shoppes & the Four Seasons Shoppes! Seriously, there were just a LOT of shops in there. I don't think 3 days is enough to go all through those shops. Unfortunately, I didn't get to buy any clothes. I don't know why, I guess I was too lazy to fit and try them on because I was wearing a lot. The weather dropped to 4ºC and I had to wear a jacket, scarf, etc to keep me warm.

But nonethless, I'm still happy with my new purchases. =)

Some none makeup/skincare stuff that I got:
I've been looking for a nice red and grey bag for so long. But still, I didn't find anything that I liked during my trip. So instead, I got the small black satchel bag and a big blue/brown stripe bag.. I also have been meaning to get myself a black watch, so glad that I waited for this trip to get one. I love it!... And the shoes! I just love these shoes. They are so comfy and the zebra print inside is just so cute! =)

And now for the makeup goodies that I got:

Clinique Superfit in Cream Beige. I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about this and I love that it's oil free. I only have one liquid foundation and I thought I'd try this one out.

Urban Decay Lipstick in Voodoo. I was surprised to see a UD rack at the Duty Free shop inside The Venetian. I got so excited! But they really didn't have a lot. They only had one palette available.. So I thought I'd just get another lippie cos I loved my UD lipstick in Gash.

And lastly, I got two of YSL ROUGE VOLUPTÉ Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 in #3 (Beige Ultimate) and #21 (Vibrant Brown). So far I'm loving these, I'll post more about these soon. =)

So that's it. I will be posting reviews/swatches soon. Thanks for reading! =)

Review: Clinique Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer

No matter how well you protect your skin, sun, stress and pollution bring daily damage. Now a potent moisturizer works overnight to deliver a unique complex of eight rapid and delayed-release antioxidants that defuse this free-radical activity. Helps keep skin strong and prevent visible signs of aging. - Clinique.com

I have a combination skin that is kind of dry in a cold weather and is slightly oily in hot/warm weather. I always do my Clinique 3-step-skin system every morning and at night. But for the last 2-3 months, I have started using Clinique's Turnaround Concentrate as an additional morning routine. And at night, the Clinique's Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer.

On my previous post, I have reviewed the Turnaround Concentrate and gave it a very good rating because I just truly love the product. And now, I am going to rave about the Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer.

I've been a little skeptical in trying new products ever since I went anti-aging-skin-care crazy the past months. I like to try new stuff and most of them gave me tiny red bumps, allergic reaction or maybe irritation I think. But then again, I braved myself and purchased the Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturizer. I trust Clinique anyway, so I went for it. Because I knew I needed something more than just a basic moisturizer for my skin at night time. Something that will give more for my skin. So yeah, I've been using this for months now and so far I can say it's working well for my skin. No bad reaction or anything.

This product is amazing. It's thick but it sinks right into my skin when applied. It's not greasy at all. So that's a big plus for me, because I just hate sticky products. And one more thing, there's no flowery scent. That's one of the things I also like about Clinique products, they're fragrance free.

I can tell the difference with my skin texture and tone. It's is so much more radiant and smooth. I think I did the right choice in purchasing this and the Turnaround Concentrate. They both work so great for my skin.

The only con I can think of is that it's quite expensive. It comes in a 50ml tube for the price of $42.50 .. Hmm too small for the price right? But with this product, a little goes a long way. I've been using this for 2-3 months already and I still have a lot in the tube until now. So I don't really need to restock often.

This product is just great, I am pretty sure that my skin will benefit from all the antioxidants in it. And the protection it gives my skin today will certainly pay off in the future.

Rating: Very good kitty!

Review: Clinique Turnaround Concentrate

About 2 months ago, my sister told me that my face had become noticeably darker and uneven. I actually noticed it, too. When I look in the mirror and do my skin routine. My face looked dull and a bit darker than it was before. It was probably because days before that, I've been going out in the sun playing with my little dogs every morning and giving them a bath once a week.. The bad thing is, I'm out in the open exactly when I wake up, and I tend to forget to apply sunscreen before stepping out in the sun.

So yeah, on my previous haul I got the Clinique Turnaround Concentrate. I've been using it religiously every morning. In the directions it says that you should apply it twice a day but I only put it on every morning.

I've been using it for more than a month now, and I am so happy with the result. Clinique never disappoints me.

Here are the things I like best about it:

1.) No allergies. Seriously, about 80% of skin care products I use gives me allergies. But Clinique has never failed me.

2.) It's so smooth when applied. No kidding, I don't like putting on too much products in the morning. My usual routine every morning before is the 3-step-system from Clinique plus sunscreen. Because I do not like my face getting too sticky especially in the morning because of the humid weather. But Turnaround Concentrate is just so smooth and velvety when applied, it feels like I have just applied a nice silky smooth powder on my face when I put this on. Not sticky at all.

3.) It works! About a month after using it, I noticed the glow on my skin. It has become brighter again getting rid of the dullness... And I wasn't the only one who noticed, out of the blue my sister told me that my skin seemed brighter and even now.

So yeah, I am very pleased that Clinique did it for me again!

New Purchase! Gifts! Haul! Happy Face =)

Yesterday was another happy day for me. My brother came home from visiting his girlfriend in Canada. So I was pretty excited because I asked him to buy me some stuff. Aside from the stuff I got, he and his gf gave me nice gifts. =)

My Clinique Supply! I love Clinique's skin care. It does not irritate me (so far). And it really does work for me. I especially love their 3-step-system.

The liquid facial soap and clarifying lotion I can set aside and try other brands from time to time but the moisturizer (in gel) is just the most important one for me. It's the only moisturizer that really is non-sticky plus it does not irritate me. I've tried other moisturizers from other brands like Olay, Murad, The Body Shop, VMV Hypoallergenics, etc and most if not all gave me tiny red bumps.

I already ran out of my Clinique 3-step-system. And I've been using a couple of sample moisturizers the past 2 weeks while I'm waitinitinr my new set to arrive. The last sample I used was the Oro Gold Moisturizer (will do a review about it later), sadly it didn't work for me so I am very happy to finally get my hands on my new Clinique set.

The stuff I repurchased from Clinique:
  • Liquid Facial Soap Mild
  • Clarifying Lotion #2
  • Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
The new stuff I'm going to try from Clinique:
  • All about eyes
  • Super rescue antioxidant night moisturizer
  • turnaround concentrate visible skin renewer
I hope these new products will not irritate me. =) The stuff came with a free pink beach bag with a bamboo handle and a free lipstick in Raspberry Glace. The beach bag is nice, although I would prefer sample makeup and skin care over the bag =D

Here's a swatch of the Lipstick. It's a bright pretty purply pink rasberry color with shimmer.

My Mom also got the clarifying lotion, but sadly the bottle broke off. All the product inside spilled. Too bad. =( They were all inside my brother's luggage. It probably broke off in the airport as most luggages are not handled properly in there.

Aside from the Clinique stuff, I also got the Mac fluidline in blacktrack. I love eyeliners and I don't have any gel ones yet so I thought I'd get this one after reading good reviews about it.

I also got Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power Clear Scrub. I don't have any pimple as of the moment, but I do get a few whiteheads every once in a while. Hopefully this will help. I'm planning to use this just once or twice every week. As too much scrubbing could hurt our skin.

That's all I got from my brother's trip. But aside from my purchase, he and his girlfriend got me some nice gifts =)

Here's their belated birthday gift for me. The Vera Wang Rock Princess Perfume! Me loves it! Love the packaging and the scent. I think it suits my personality. Lol. I can't get over it. I keep looking at it and smelling it. =)

They also got me a couple of beauty stuff from Victoria's Secret.
  • Beauty Rush Lip Gloss in Slice of Heaven
  • Beauty Rush Luminous Shadow - I haven't opened this one yet. But when I shake it, I could hear a ball inside it. lol. Don't know what it's for. Probably an eyeshadow base or something. Does anyone know? I'd really love if anyone would tell me what it is. =)

Oh and there were a couple of samples but I got only 2 of them. Gave the others to my Mom and sisters. I got the Vera Wang Princes and Issey Miyake perfume samples.

That's all for now. Hopefully I could do reviews about these soon. =)

LF: the perfect spot corrector

I am on the look for a good spot (sun spots, acne marks, etc) corrector. I have a few spots on my upper cheek and my nose area, which I'm guessing are sun spots or past acnes or maybe freckles. I'm not really sure, but I want to get rid of them so I could get a clearer skin.

I have used one from The Face Shop: White Tree Pure Vita Spot Corrector before but it only caused me tiny red bumps and whiteheads so I stopped using it.

I have a few products in mind but I am still not sure which to get:

1.) Clinique: Even Better Skin Tone Corrector

1.0 oz/30 ml $39.50

Clinique guiding dermatologist Dr. Orentreich says, "When skin is more even-toned, you look younger." So here's your second chance. To virtually undo the visible evidence of sun damage, dark patches, skin stresses, age spots, even the darkening that follows acne scarring. Gently create-for all ethnicities-brightness and clarity you thought long gone.

My thoughts: It's cheaper compared to the next products I'm going to mention but I am not sure if it's really effective. The reviews about this product were just okay. Not too high and not too low.

2.) Shisiedo: Bio-Performance Advanced Super Revitalizer (Cream) Whitening Formula N
50 ml./1.7 fl. oz. $ 98.00

This advanced formula is a luxurious skin revitalizer that energizes and encourages a perfectly even complexion. For all skin types. Diminishes spots, freckles, uneven color and fine lines. Exclusive ingredients - HKC, Bio-EPO and Super Bio-Hyaluronic Acid - offer continuous hydration while inspiring luminosity.

My thoughts: The thing that I really like about this is that aside from diminishing spots, it also helps get rid of fine lines. I am in my 20's and I am also obsessed with anti-aging skin care products. So this one's really great if it really works as it claims, skin tone corrector plus anti-aging in one.

3.) Shiseido: Whitess W Intensive Skin Brightener

38 ml./1.4 oz. $ 130.00

A bright new future for your skin. This lightweight brightening essence minimizes imperfections caused by the sun. Promotes an even, translucent skin tone and a flawless complexion.
Diminishes appearance of dark spots and discoloration.
Improves skin's luminosity, texture and clarity after 2-3 months of continued use.

My thoughts: Sounds promising but I think it's too pricey! =( Plus the reviews were so-so... So I'm not really sure if it's worth it.

4.) Shiseido: White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Gel

40 ml./1.4oz $ 54.00

A moisturizer that improves microcirculation for a healthy glow and a revitalized, more even-toned complexion. Recommended for normal to oily skin. Specially developed with Shiseido-original Multi-Target Vitamin C and Spot Deacti-Complex, which effectively fade the appearance of dark spots, and leave skin looking radiantly translucent and flawless. Formulated with Asian plant extracts to improve moisture balance and smooth skin. Contains AE Complex, a highly effective absorption enhancer that maximizes the delivery of beneficial ingredients to skin. Changes from gel to fluid upon application, and provides a comfortable refreshed feeling.

My thoughts: I like the fact that it's gel (it's also available in cream), because I am really uncomfortable with sticky face products. But the reviews were so-so. Just around 3.5 on a scale of 5.

5.) Shiseido: White Lucent Concentrated Brightening Serum

30 ml. $ 120.00 50 ml. $ 165.00

A high-performance brightening treatment that intensively targets dark spots, freckles and dullness to give skin an extraordinary radiance and beautifully even skin tone.
Recommended for all skin types, particularly complexions with dark spots, freckles, and uneven skin tone.
Works to visibly diminish spots and freckles on skin's surface.
Retexturizes skin and protects against aggressive external factors.
Specially developed with Shiseido-original Multi-Target Vitamin C and Super Spot Deacti-Complex, a more potent form of Spot Deacti-Complex, which effectively fade the appearance of dark spots, and leave skin looking radiantly translucent and flawless.
Contains AE Complex, a highly effective absorption enhancer that maximizes the delivery of beneficial ingredients to skin.

My thoughts: Just like product #3, it sounds promising but for the price. *sigh* And I am pretty sure it's not just $120 from where I live. Prices here are much more higher.. I also checked the reviews and it got a low rating of 2.3 on a scale of 5. I don't even know if it's worth it.

Anyone who have tried any of the products I mentioned? What can you say about it?

Any product suggestion? =)

The Beauty Experiment

Skin Care
Okay, so I guess I've been a bit obsessed about skin care products when I turned 20. I never put anything on my face before that. Maybe minimal moisturizer, but most often I skipped putting it on. I just didn't like the sticky feeling. But when I hit the age of 20 I started to worry about my skin. I remember someone telling me that if I don't moisturize my skin, I'd age fast. And that made me worry. I remember going to Clinique during one of our trips to New York. The Clinique SA recommended that I used their 3 step skin care. And I did. I loved it. And after years, I'm still using it. It made my face a lot smoother and radiant. One more thing I noticed, my face color is even... So I never stopped using it til now.

Since I noticed the visible improvement of my skin. I have started my quest to search for some more skin care products. Eye creams, Sunscreens, Face creams and the list goes on...

My sudden curiosity on make up
Okay, so I was never really that interested with makeup. I'd like to keep it simple. Just powder foundation, blush, lip gloss and eyeliner. I haven't even really used mascara and eyelash curler until I was 20. Anyway aside from that, I didn't really bother much. I haven't really put on eyeshadow or whatever, not until there are special occasions like wedding. But I'd have my trusted makeup artist do it for me... How did all these makeup interest came up? Well, it was my friend's wedding. I already had everything prepared. My cute little black tube bubble skirt dress, my red shoes, and red clutch.. I contacted my reliable makeup artist but to my disappointment, he won't be available on my friend's wedding day! I tried to look for other makeup artists but it worried me, that the makeup might be too "THICK" or "TOO MUCH" and that I might look like a clown.. It already happend to me before so I'm kind of traumatized. Lol.. So I thought I might as well just put makeup myself. The way I like it. I knew how put blush, lipstick, eyeliner, curl my lashes and put on mascara.. But the one thing that I had no idea about was how to put on some eyeshadow! I don't have an idea how to blend the colors and stuff.. So I asked some friends and searched for tutorials! Thank God there's Youtube! So I watched and learned and bought my first palette of eyeshadow. I stayed out of the bright colors and started with the neutrals.. Of course, my first trial was horrid! I looked like my eyes had been punched. But then I kept trying, I especially liked xteeener's tutorials, she helped me tremendously!.. My look on the wedding day wasn't that spectacular, it wasn't that bad either. It was just natural. And I liked it... After that, I don't know but I just suddenly had an interest on eyeshadows and makeup, there are days when I just want to sit in front of my mirror and experiment (like try on one of xteeener's tutorial). Sometimes it looks okay, oftentimes it's horrible. Lol. Still learning. And I'm enjoying it anyway, especially when I'm bored.

So that's about it, I babbled too much. Later!
