TFS: Neutral Nail Polish

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's day!

I just thought I'd share my new nail polish from The Face Shop. :)

You see, I prefer deep dark colored nail polishes but today I spotted this neutral colored one from TFS! It's in the color PP402. I'm not sure how to describe the color but it's kind of pinkish, mauvy-ish, old rose kind of color. I tried it on at the store and I fell in love with it that I just immediately bought it without thinking twice! I got it for PHP 195.

I think it makes my fingernails look simple and clean.

I've also been looking for a gray nail polish. Something plain, not metallic and no glitters. Suggestions?

My Hair Routine (Oily Hair)

My hair used to be dry. Because of that, I started to use hair products that would moisturize my hair. And IDK how, but my hair just stopped being dry. It was so much softer and smoother. I would even use different shampoos (but I often go back to Head & Shoulders especially when I feel that my hair is starting to feel oily) and still my hair would look and feel fine. I don't use shampoos like Clear, Vaseline or Pantene because they make my hair and scalp oily. And I really hate that.. So yeah, everything was fine until I started noticing that my hair was becoming more oily. Each day, I am excited to take a bath and rinse off all the oiliness on my hair. But after every wash, just after a few hours my hair would start to feel sticky again. ugh. IDK why, as far as I can remember, my hair used to be dry. And then it became normal. And then what.. OILY? ... I really hated having oily hair. It wasn't comfortable and it felt dirty. So anyway, I wanted to get rid of the oiliness so I stopped whatever hair product I was using. But it's taken too long already and nothing's working. I even went back to using Head & Shoulders but it didn't seem to work either. I went ahead and asked my friend what I should do about my oily hair. She said I might want to try Suave or White Rain's clarifying shampoo. I went ahead and read reviews. And based on reviews, Suave Daily Calrifying Shampoo seemed better. So I went ahead and purchased one from Watson's.

According to reviews, some people would use it just 1-3 times a week because it might be too drying. Others say it's fine to use it daily. My friend told me not to use it too often and I took her advice. I used it only 3 times a week. I use Head & Shoulders during the days when I'm not using it.. First time I used it, WOW. My head, scalp, hair felt really refreshed. I definitely noticed my hair feeling lighter without all the gunk and oiliness. I was impressed. Although I noticed that it really made my hair like "squeaky" clean when washing. Meaning I think it didn't moisturize at all. Because you can literally feel your hair squeak against your hands after washing. lol. So yeah, I only used it 3 times a week. But then, I noticed that the days when I'm not using it, my hair felt gunky all over again. So I tried using it every other day. And still, the same feeling on the days when I'm not using it. My hair was oily. So yeah, I am now using it everyday. And yep, I'm not having any problems with it at all. I guess there's a reason why they'd call it a "daily clarifying shampoo". I really think it's okay for everyday use. So far, I am loving the results. Been using it for months now. And I don't have oily hair anymore. It didn't dry out my hair either. It's just great. I love it.

Aside from Suave Daily Clarifying Shampoo, these are some hair care products I use and love.

1.) Dove Body & Lift (Volumizing Mousse) - I have long, straight, black hair. But I don't like my hair looking limp, lifeless and flat. I apply this product while my hair is still damp in front of an electric fan. Yep, electric fan. Believe it or not, I can't blow dry my hair. IDK how other people do it. One hand with blow dry and the other hand with a brush. It's just too difficult for me work on my own hair. And my arms just get too tired easily when I raise them up to blow dry my hair. I'm really amazed at people who can blow dry their own hair. Can you guys give me tips? Heeehee... Anyways, back to the product. This mousse really helps me with my dilemma. It lifts and gives body to my hair (just like it says on the bottle). It doesn't grease up or flake. It has a nice clean scent as well. Nothing too strong and nauseating. I'm really loving this product.

2.) The Face Shop (Volumizing) Stylist Wax - One day, I had these stubborn portion of hair that wouldn't go to the direction I'd want them to. I asked my brother if he had gel. And he gave me this wax. He said I can have it cos the product is meant for girls and he's already bought another wax for himself anyways. So yeah, it wasn't even used that much and I was happy that it's even meant to "volumize". I dipped my finger on the jar and got a bit. I rubbed the wax in between my fingers then I applied it on my hair. Love it! It definitely helped me tame those stubborn hair. What's better was it didn't make my hair flat or look wet. It looked natural. Just how I want it to be.

So that's it for my current hair routine. Hope you enjoyed this post. =)

The Face Shop: Nail Enamel Remover

Before I discovered (from Thiamere) The Face Shop's Nail Enamel Remover, I've been using Acetone to remove my nail polish. It does the job but there are a lot of reasons why I would stick with TFS Nail Enamel Remover than go back to using Acetone.

Reasons why TFS Nail Enamel Remover is better than Acetone:
1.) The smell is delicious. Smells like strawberry.
2.) It's very gentle. Unlike acetone, it does not leave my nails dry. I think it actually somehow hydrates them. Which I think is really good and healthy for my nails.
3.) It removes nail enamel faster and completely clean... With acetone, it takes a lot of wipe and cotton balls to take off the color. Ever had black polish on? When I use acetone, the color kind of smears on my skin and somehow still leaves a dark tint on my nails. But with TFS Nail Enamel Remover, it's effortless and does not smear at all. A single cotton ball is usually enough for all 10 fingernails.

I know that TFS Nail Enamel Remover is much pricier (I think PHP 95) compared to Acetone. But seriously, you get what you pay for. Actually you're saving so much more. Because a little goes a long way. Plus it keeps your nails healthy. So def worth every penny.

Review: Loreal De Maq and The Face Shop Herb Day Cotton - Perfect Cleansing Wipes with Tea Tree

A few weeks ago, I started having pimples on the left part of my forehead. I don't even know the reason why. First, there was one pimple, the next few days there were three! I panicked.

And around those days, I ran out of my favorite all-over face makeup remover which is the Neutrogena Deep Clean Makeup Remover. So I thought maybe it's because I haven't been able to clean my face thoroughly the past few days. I didn't have a makeup remover for my face so I just washed my face twice. I went everywhere looking for it for weeks (I think it's been months now) but it's out of stock. So I went ahead and looked for another makeup remover for my face.

I saw Loreal De maq Expert Cashmere Milk Expert Make up Remover, and it looked promising.
So yeah, I was desperate and without any second thought I bought it. The first time I used it, the smell made me nauseous. I think it smelled flowery and was just too overpowering. I'm just not really into flowery smells like this. So that's a minus for me already.. After application, I noticed it being too greasy. I felt my skin was suffocating from it after application, I couldn't wait to wash it off. I hated the feeling on my face plus the smell. Ugh. I don't think it worked for me. After a few days of forcing myself to use it just because I badly needed a makeup remover, it gave me a couple of tiny little bumps on my forehead. And the pimples were stil there =( I love Loreal's lip & eye makeup remover, so I expected this to work for me as well. But too bad it didn't. I'm not saying it's a bad product you should stay away from, it was just my experience. It might not work for me, but it could work for others..
Rating: Bad Kitty =(

And so the search went on. I went to The Face Shop one day and checked out their cleansing wipes. They had different kinds, but I got particularly curious and interested with the The Face Shop Herb Day Cotton - Perfect Cleansing Wipes with Tea Tree. It was pricier than the other cleansing wipes. I think it's around PHP 345 or PHP 395. The pack has 50 sheets. It's quite pricey but it has more benefits from the other cleansing wipes. First of all it has tea tree that helps control blemishes as it cleanses and clears pores.

The cleansing wipes also came with the new exfoliating mesh cloth for deeper cleaning and to remove excess sebum while removing makeup.

It comes in a resealable pack to prevent the cleansing wipes from drying.

So what do I think about it? I love it! Every time I use it, my face feels so refreshed. No greasy icky feel. I love the smell, nothing flowery. It smells like tea tree which is okay with me. I actually think it smells so fresh. I also love the mesh cloth, I feel like it's really giving my skin a deeper clean. After days of using this, my pimples finally started to dry up. I guess this really helped (along with my Clinique spot healing gel). I am almost finished with my first pack and I am definitely going to be repurchasing again soon =)

The Face Shop: Flebeaute Collagenic Thermage Lifting Essence

Hi everyone! Haven't posted for a few days, I was just quite busy... about something ;) Anyway, here's The Face Shop's Flebeaute Collagenic Thermage Lifting Essence.

Okay, so I had been using this for months already. I'm on my twenties and I don't really have wrinkles. So I guess I wouldn't really see results regarding that. Anyway, I heard it's good if you use anti-aging products when you hit your 20's so I got this product because I wanted to stop (err.. aging can't be stopped. lol) or at least slow down the aging process of my skin.

So far, no breakouts, no bumps, no whiteheads whatsoever from this product. I feel that it moisturizes really well and makes my face feel soft and smooth. I don't really like putting too much stuff on my face on daytime because it sometimes get too sticky for me so I only use this at night. It's a bit sticky but not too sticky. It's really good especially during the cold nights when my Clinique moisturizing gel couldn't moisturize enough. The only thing I couldn't stand is the smell. I'm not really a fan of flower smelling skin care stuff (especially the ones that I put on my face). But other than that it's a good moisturizing essence and (hopefully) a good aging defense for my skin.

Make-up Remover

A couple of makeup remover that I am currently using.
1.) The Face Shop: Herb Clear Lip & Eye Make-up Remover - It's the green bottle from the picture above. As far as I remember, this costs around PHP 390.00 (USD $8.00). Correct me if I'm wrong, it's been quite a while since I have purchased this.. So anyway, it does the job of removing my waterproof makeup but it takes a bit of an effort. But this makeup remover is oil free and alcohol free, which I really really love. I love that it doesn't sting my eyes and I also use this when I make a minimal mistake with makeup, I just apply this with Q-tip. It doesn't leave a residue so I don't have to wash off my makeup. I love it. I am actually running out of my first bottle, I wanted to get another one but everytime I checked TFS, they don't have it. The only makeup remover available was not oil free. So yeah, I hope they didn't discontinue this product. It's going to make me really sad. =(

2.) L'Oreal Dermo Expertise Gentle Lip & Eye Make-up Remover - The blue bottle from the picture. It costs around PHP 390.00 (USD $8.00), I hope I remember it right.. This one's for waterproof makeup. Okay this is supposed to be gentle but it actually stings my eyes. And like my TFS makeup remover, it works but with a bit of an effort. Like I really have to rub my lashes with a Q-tip or cotton ball. I try my best to be very gentle, because I also get worried of the sagging it might cause if I rub too much. And also, I noticed that it flakes my mascara off which I hate because sometimes it would get into my eyes. I don't know if it's the makeup remover causing the flakes or if it really is just the mascara.. Anyway, it's not oil free so I cannot use it to correct makeup mistakes. I'm not sure if I am going to repurchase this, maybe I'll try other brands first and look for something that won't sting.

3.) Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing Lotion - Its the white bottle in the middle of the picture above. This one's for waterproof makeup, too. I LOVE THIS! I just simply apply it on (let's say my eyes) and super gently massage it on the area. Then I just lightly wipe my eyes off with tissue and it's gone. It simply melts away the makeup! No flaking whatsoever. The only downside is, it stings my eyes. Sad. But, seriously I think this is the only makeup remover (that I have tried so far) that thoroughly removed my makeup (esp. my eye makeup). If only it doesn't sting, this would be my HG makeup remover. But still, I guess I am going to repurchase this. Because it does the job pretty easy. Oh, I got this at around PHP 390.00 (USD $8.00), too. I am just not sure if it's available in other countries like the USA. Because I have tried to search for it on the Neutrogena.com website, unfortunately I can't find it.. But when I browsed on our local Neutrogena.com.ph website, it's there. So yeah. I hope this becomes available everywhere because I think it's pretty good. =)

Some citrusy skin care that didn't work for me

It's weird.

Because I know that Vitamin C is good for my skin, I have tried to look for off the shelf skin care products that contains Vitamin C. But unfortunately, nothing seems to work right for me.

My skin: Combination. Normal/Dry on cheeks, a little oily on T-zone area.

These are the skin care products I am talking about. And they all gave me severe white heads and tiny red bumps!

1.) The Body Shop: Vitamin C Moisturizer SPF 15 - I wanted this to work because I badly needed a sunscreen. I remember that this smelled citrusy which was okay. But I think it was a bit too sticky for me. I really don't like sticky products. They make me uncomfortable especially in a hot weather like the Philippines! So yeah, even if it was sticky I gave it a chance. But I soon regretted giving this product a chance because it gave me so much whiteheads and tiny red bumps. I even felt my usual smooth chin becoming rough because of the bumps! So I stopped using it and gave it to my bf. He, too, grew a pimple from using this so he stopped using it.

2.) The Face Shop: White Tree Pure Vita Spot Corrector - this one I'm not really sure if it contains Vitamin C. I have already thrown the box, but I think it does and it smells citrusy. It actually smells similar to TBS's Vitamin C Moisturizer SPF 15... Same thing, I bought this product because I have a couple of dark sun spots and this serum is supposed to help get rid of those. But before I can even see any improvement, it caused me whiteheads and tiny red bumps. So I had to stop using it. *sigh* I was kind of disappointed, I actually use a lot of other The Face Shop skin care products. And I love them (I might put a review about them sometime soon), so I was expecting this to work. So yeah, I'm sad.

3.) The Face Shop: Flebeaute White Crystal Pure Vita Program (Ampoule) - I can't find a picture of this on the internet so I took the picture myself.. Okay so it's my fault. I should've been precautious about buying products with Vit C since they don't seem to work for me. But this was like an impulse buy... So I immediately got the two (Step 1: 3% and Step 2: 5%). Gosh, I should've bought the Step 1 first so I could've tried and tested it... Anyway, the product claims to brighten the skin and also help improve the look of dark spots. I was actually excited about this, since the "White Tree Spot Corrector" didn't work, I hoped this one would. But it didn't. Like the first two products I mentioned, this one gave me whiteheads and red bumps. This is actually one of my recent buys, so I am still fresh from the acnes! Still suffering roughness on my chin because of the bumps, plus some around my nose... One of them even grew to become a pimple right at the middle of my nose! Argh! But it's gone now, I have applied some Clinique Acne Solution and it dried. But there's still the usual dark mark left. =(

These products didn't work for me which is kind of weird because my dermatologist gave me a Vitamin C serum and it worked fine..

I don't know why. Maybe these products are just not for me.. But it doesn't mean they won't work for everyone. Remember we all have different skin types, so some might not be working for me but works superb for others.. This is just a review based from my experience. =)

So there.
