Lip Love

I've had the dilemma of having dry and flaky lips. And as we all know, it doesn't feel or look good when you're wearing lipstick especially matte lipstick. I just recently discovered the "lip regimen" that works for me. These products definitely made a difference. My lips are so much smoother now.

I am mainly using 3 products:
1.) Smashbox Lip Emulsion Exfoliant
2.) Softlips Lip Balm SPF 20
3.) Original Carmex Tube

Smashbox Lip Emulsion Exfoliant
I got this at Beauty Bar for PHP 995. It's quite pricey but it's the only lip exfoliant I can find and I badly needed one.. This is a sugar based lip exfoliant that tastes and smells like peppermint. I really like the cooling sensation of this product. I use this every other night and with clean lips I gently apply this in circular motion and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes afterward. Then I gently wipe it off with a tissue... For the price, it's well worth it. It really makes a difference. My lips are smoother and it takes the flakiness away.

Softlips Lip Balm SPF 20
I have read raves about this product but I never got the chance to try it because I THOUGHT it wasn't available in the Philippines. Guess what? I was at the METRO (Gaisano) Department Store weeks ago and I decided to look at their beauty section. And I found Softlips! They only had it in one flavor, though. But it's fine. Cherry's fine. I got it for PHP 258 (for two). Not that pricey.. So yeah, I got all giddy and bought meself some Softlips. I've been using this for weeks (daytime) and I'm loving it. It's in Cherry but it has this minty sensation to it. It moisturizes really well. Leaves my lips super soft. And It has SPF 20 to protect your lips from the sun. I know how annoying it is to wear SPF lip balm that leaves such ugly white cast on your lips like you just downed a bottle of vinegar. Well forget about those lip balms because Softlips is here and it will moisturize, protect with SPF without the dreaded white cast!

Original Carmex Tube
Here's another product I never thought I'd be able to purchase in the Philippines. See, I wanted to get another lip balm that I could use at night. Because the Softlips I have has SPF, I wanted a lip balm that doesn't have.. well SPF. I actually considered Burt's Bees. But I was thinking twice about it. IDK. Maybe PHP 350 something was quite pricey for an ordinary lip balm.. I couldn't really find anything that I like, I almost gave in to Burt's Bees. But once again, while looking around METRO (Gaisano) Department Store, I saw this stand with a bunch of lip balms from different brands. Maybelline, Nivea, Chapstick, Softlips... Carmex! .. So there, I got it. And it only cost me PHP 95... I have been using this for more than a week already. I apply it every night (and also after I exfoliate my lips with the Smashbox Emuslion). It has this cooling sensation and it moisturizes my lips really well. You don't need a lot. A little goes a long way..

Here's an additional info about Carmex:
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
  • Camphor alleviates pain
  • Menthol kills germs and relieves discomfort
  • Phenol gently numbs your sore lips and removes old, dead skin
Cheap price for such an amazing product. Btw, METRO also have Carmex Stick with SPF in case you want something with SPF.

So there you go. My current lip regime. Each morning I wake up with soft, smooth and non-flaky lips. And I continuously protect my lips throughout the day with Softlips. These products definitely made a difference. Oftentimes when I have nothing on my lips like after I took a bath or when I wake up in the morning, I can't help but keep touching them because they are just so soft. lol.

RATING:
Very Good Kitties!

BTW, you guys might want to check out METRO Department Store once in a while. They have bunch of imported beauty products there. You might find something you never thought would be available in the Philippines... Although, sometimes they run out of stock and it takes a while for them to replenish their stocks... So if you see something you like, go ahead and get it and maybe buy more backups before they're gone. =)

So far, I've only found them at Metro Dept Store. I'm not really sure if there are other stores that carries Softlips. =/
